Player Assistance Funding Opportunities

PLAYER REGISTRATION FUNDING INFORMATION

Players requiring financial assistance to pay for registration can apply to KidSport https://kidsportcanada.ca/saskatchewan/regina/, Canadian Tire Jumpstart https://jumpstart.canadiantire.ca/pages/individual-child-grants, or Dream Brokers http://www.sasksport.sk.ca/dreambrokers/schools.html if applicable.

Jumpstart covers up to $300 per year.  KidSport may cover up to $500 per year. Please see below for funding program descriptions and how to apply.

CANADIAN TIRE JUMPSTART:

Kids aged 4 to 18 from families in financial need can receive funding to help with registration fees, equipment and/or transportation. Only one sport or activity is covered for each application. Children can be funded for successive seasons in an activity up to a maximum of $300 per activity. The annual maximum is $300.

Jumpstart recommends following Revenue Canada’s Low-Income Cut-offs (LICOs) which are based on a family’s size, the size of their community and the total family unit income (before tax).

To see if your family meets the financial need criteria to qualify for Jumpstart funding, here’s how to determine where your total family unit income (before tax) falls within the LICO table:

Find the size of your family unit down the left-hand side. Find your community size across the top.

Where the column and row meet is the LICO for the family unit size in the community.

Cheques are never sent to the parent/guardian directly, they are sent to the organization.

Please click HERE to start your online application.

If you have additional questions, call 1-844-YES-PLAY (1-844-937-7529).

KIDSPORT:

Applications are due at least 30 days prior to the start date of the activity or registration, as it takes a month to process after the deadline.

Deadline for applications for KidSport Regina is the 13th of each month.

Families will receive a letter stating whether they have been approved or denied funding. Please let Norma Ursulan, FCR Youth Coordinator, know once you receive the letter at youth@fcregina.com.

Families that are on a low income, unemployed, currently receiving income support through provincial government are all considered eligible.

KidSport considers social and economic barriers facing the child’s family when determining eligibility.

Grants are for children and youth up to 18 years of age.

A KidSport grant covers financial support up to $500 per child per calendar year (January-December) towards sport registration fees.

Costs related to camps, travel, championships, high performance, etc. do not qualify.

KidSport issues funds directly to the sport organization or community association on behalf of the child.

Please allow up to 30 days for notification from KidSport of application status.

Please click HERE to start your online application.

If you have questions, call 306.780.9318.

DREAM BROKERS:

If your child attends any of the following, they can apply for funding through Regina Dream Broker:

  • Kitchener Community School
  • Sacred Heart Community School
  • Seven Stones Community School
  • Albert Community School

4 Tips for Kids’ Sports on a Budget

Bingos:

FCR offers members the opportunity to work bingos to help offset some of the costs associated with youth soccer. All Club Credits received from bingos must be used for FCR-related programming. For more information or to express interest, please contact Rhandi Langmo at bingo@fcregina.com.
Please note: This information is reviewed seasonally and subject to change.

Roughrider Concessions:

We are looking for workers to work the concessions during the Rider home games, please let us know which games you are available to work.

The game schedule is as follows:

Thursday July 4 @ 7:00pm

Friday July 19 @ 7:30pm

Saturday August 3 @5:00pm

Friday August 16 @ 7:00pm

Sunday September 1 @ 5:00pm

Saturday September 28 @ 2:00pm

Saturday October 12 @ 5:00pm

Saturday October 26 @ 5:00pm

Volunteers are expected to be at the gate ready to head up and get to work 3 hours prior to kick off.  Unfortunately, if you cannot make the start of the shift, we cannot offer you the shift.  Breaks will be arranged by the lead.  The organizers prefer to have members who can work majority of the events to ensure that we have volunteers who get familiar with the tasks and processes expected.  This does not mean that if you are not available to work all of the games that you can’t work any.  It is just preferred that you are available for multiple games.

Dress Code: Black t-shirt, black pants, no jeans, jeggings, leggings, or yoga type pants. No rips, tears, or other damaged clothing, stylish intent or not.  No clothing with a Visible brand logo, and black shoes. Clothes should be neat, clean, and wrinkle free. No slip shoes are recommended for safety, and comfortable for standing for long periods, or walking distance.  Where requested, hair nets or head coverings.

Worker passes will be given prior to each game.   We will send details with reminders/confirmations on where you will pick up and drop off for each game.

You must complete the following course in order to work the games as we are working directly with alcohol https://stec.skillbuilder.co/catalog/special-occasion-responsible-service.  There is a fee of $10.  We will need a copy of your certificate for our organizer before you are able to work.  If you have completed the course in the last 5 years it is still valid.

If you are interested in working the games, please let us know and include what dates you will be available by email to execassist@fcregina.com

Please note this fundraising opportunity is available to all members who are currently registered with FC Regina for the Outdoor season.
